A bond is required to be paid up front.

Pets allowed in room and courtyard, we supply throw over rugs, door matts and towels for you dog/s. Accommodation for your dogs in

kennel enclosure at rear of complex if you wish to leave them for the day.   No pets in national parks !!!!


NO ANIMAL TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN ROOM OR COURTYARD. PLEASE use the dedicated, private secure kennel attached to rear of unit.



The cottage can accommodate 2 people comfortably ,will take four (all linen and bedding provided) with a double bed and double sofa bed, well appointed bathroom with hair dryer, and washing machine the kitchen has all cooking facilities e.g oven with griller, hot plates, microwave, electric fry pan and all utensils. Kitchen, dining area and lounge are open plan with  Reverse cycle air conditioning.

Kettle for hot drinks, rain water for drinking, toaster, flat screen T.V., d.v.d player and clock radio .

There is an iron in cupboard with an ironing board, an external clothes line along west side of cottage.

SHIRALEA COUNTRY COTTAGE is nestled on an 8 acre rural property surrounded by native trees and a colourful array of shrubs. Offering a fully self contained unit in Allendale East, one kilometer of the Riddoch Highway, just 20 minutes south of Mount Gambier, 5 minutes from the largest cray fish capital in the southern hemisphere being Port MacDonnell.

Relax on the verandah, have a barbeque, listen to the wildlife and enjoy the sounds of a rural setting. Inspect the sink holes, there is one in the middle of the road in Allendale East, climb Mount Schank or swim in the Little Blue Lake just west of the country pub Bellum Bellum Hotel (Aboriginal for half way).

Picanninie Ponds & Ewens ponds for diving or swimming in crystal clear waters. Many and numerous sights awaiting to enhance your stay.

Awaken at your leisure to a late checkout (please enquire if this is suitable at the time of your stay). Listen to the subtle sounds of the native birds, or resident magpies warbling, hear the chatter of the wrens, willie wagtails, wattle birds claiming their territory plus numerous other bird life ......if you are lucky , capture a glimpse of the Rosella's. At night time you may be privileged to hear a possum dancing none toooo subtly across the cottage roof.

Create your own breakfast either in the well appointed kitchen or out on the verandah.

In the town ship of Allendale East on the Riddoch High way, 1 km from Shiralea Country Cottage is a general store and Post Office, fuel and divers air, most commodities can be purchased, newspapers, magazines, bread , milk, food, fishing tackle and bait.

You have your own private entrance and lawned courtyard, close the gate and it is secure for animals and children. Private and cosy. Adjacent to private enclosure is ample off street parking for your boat, trailer, van or any additional vehicles.

As evening approaches you can absorb our beautiful sunsets filtering through the native trees and shrubs outside your unit, or take in the magnificent sunset from the cliffs off Cape Northumberland, again only 5 minutes drive away, whilst there watch the fairy penguins coming in to their colony at dusk from a secure viewing platform free of charge. It is advisable to  wear suitable walking shoes and take a warm jacket as it can become very windy.

If you wish to pamper your self  - head down to the coast, have a meal, be it at the Pub, fish shop or 'Periwinkle Restaurant' overlooking the breakwater and the fishing fleet of Port MacDonnell. 

Take a liesurely digestive walk along the foreshore and jetty, or around the historic town, many sights to see. Call at the the Tourism center for brochures and information whilst there take time to visit the Maritime Museum (well worth a look).
