All dogs come with a registered pedigree with Dogs SA under our controlling body of the Aust, National Kennel Control Council. We are bound by a strict Code of Ethics which can be viewed on the Dogs SA website. Miniature pinschers do not have any hereditary faults, they were bred as ratters and originated from Germany and are a very old breed, they are not a scaled down dog as the misconception is that they are a smaller version of the man made Doberman. Min pins are very intelligent, alert and naturally well groomed with coat short and smooth, grooming requires little attention with an occasional brush and shampoo. They are an active and independent breed. Miniature Pinschers are energetic and require a secure fenced in yard to run, great escape artists, good watch dogs alert and wary of strangers, dedicated to their owner but tolerant to the rest of the family, Min Pins do not bark incessantly nor without reason. All Shiralea Miniature Pinschers have huge enclosures for them to self exercise and we only run one male and one compatible female per enclosure. All yards are secure, private and solid divisions between neighboring Miniature Pinschers, there are mesh panels for the dogs to see out of their yards which are well shaded and covered in gravel with snug kennels and rugs, no cement runs so the dogs are not left in pools of water and waste. The individual yards enables us to ensure that we have complete control over our breeding programs and know exactly whom is mated with whom. The bitch is removed from her yard and mate prior to pups being born and allocated a private secure enclosure accessing their heated whelping room adjoining our living area, this enables us to monitor the birth and progress of mother and pups whilst the pups are still dependent on their mum.

Approximately 5 weeks after being born we let them run outside in our again private and secure lawned exercise area, we along with our resident caretaker then spend many hours playing and socializing with pups, enjoying their antics, taking numerous photos for the web site and introduce then to normal house hold noises, this allows them to be sociable and secure when they go to their respective new homes. Min Pin are a minority breed and there are limited breeders in Australia. We can transport pups anywhere in Australia or overseas we arrange all transportation needs and supply an airline approved PP20 crate. Due to our rural location being 1.5 hours return from Mount Gambier Regional Airport it is not financially viable to use hire crates, plus a health risk for young vulnerable puppies and we are not prepared to take the risk of using a second hand crate. Freight cost varies but allow for air fares, or collect from our premises. If you do not wish to retain the PP20 which will last the life time of your dog you may resell on E bay or such places. Pups are not ready to go to new homes until 8-12 weeks. A complimentary puppy pack comes with purchase. A non refundable holding fee (deposit) is require to secure you exclusive puppy. The Torfspitz was not limited geographically to Germany but being present in widely distributed points over Europe and Asia.

The Min Pin is known in its country of origin Germany, as the Reh Pinscher or Zwerg Pinscher.

The breed was used as a barnyard ratter controlling the rodent population in the stables.

TEMPERAMENT - The Miniature Pinscher is a hardy little fellow who is proud and courageous. They are loyal to their masters, a people dog, spirited and alert, with high energy, intelligent, lively and brave. Generally good with other pets and children, love to sleep under blankets. Miniature Pinschers are a watch dog second to none, for anything short of a bullett will not stop them when a stray intruder invades the home of its owner. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off a  lead, such as a fenced in yard. Make sure any yard in which they run loose has a fence height of at least 90 cm, to prevent their determined efforts to escape and explore, do not leave them unattended unless you have smooth fences of at least 1.5 meter high.
